Thank you for choosing Apple Hill Eye Center for your vision needs!
First visits usually take approximately 60-90 minutes. Dilation of the pupils is necessary for a complete eye exam. The dilating drops will cause your eyes to be blurry and sensitive to sunlight for up to four hours. It's best that you plan not to drive yourself immediately after the appointment and arrange for someone else to drive if possible. We will provide sunshields if you forget to bring sunglasses.
On your first appointment, please bring the items listed below.
- A list of your medications (incl. eye drops), or the medication containers
- Your most recent eyeglasses & contact lenses if appropriate
- Your insurance card & all insurance information
Please arrive fifteen minutes before your appointment in order to complete the preliminary information. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding your health history.
Payment for services is requested at the time of your visit. This will help keep our expenses down, which means lower costs for you. Our staff would be happy to submit a claim to your medical insurance plan for eye care services. Please have your insurance card(s) and a referral form (if applicable) with you when you come to the office.
For most appointments, you will be escorted to an exam room by a technician and asked questions concerning your medical history and to determine the reason for your visit. A refraction, a test your doctor uses to determine your best corrected vision, will be part of your annual exam.
If visiting for a comprehensive eye exam, you will be given drops to dilate your pupils and then will be taken to a waiting room for a few minutes as the drops take effect.
Once your eyes are dilated, you will be escorted again to an exam room for your eye exam with the doctor.
If additional testing is necessary, you will be taken to the appropriate area and have the specific test(s) performed.
When your visit is complete, you will be escorted to the front desk, where payment is made and future appointments can be scheduled.
We participate with Medicare, Blue Shield, and many commercial insurances. (See our Insurance & Billing section for a complete list of participating insurance companies). Co-payments and deductibles, as well as charges for refraction and other non-covered services will be collected at the time of the office visit. Payments may be made in cash, personal check, Master Card, Visa or Discover.
You can then proceed to our Optical Department, where our trained opticians will be happy to assist you in selecting and ordering your new glasses or contacts.
We look forward to meeting you and providing you with excellent vision care!
