Once we have identified the cause of the problem, we will prescribe appropriate treatment. Some conditions can be treated through drug therapy, others may require surgery. Some conditions cannot be treated, except through a change in your medical condition. We will coordinate care closely with your primary care physician.
Signs of a Neurological Problem
Signs of a neurological cause of a vision problem include the following:
- Sudden loss of vision (full or partial)
- Blurred or double vision
- Loss of color perception
- Droopy lids
- Pupil problems
- Vision suddenly goes out of focus
- Unusual visual problems
Causes of Neurol-ophthalmologic Changes
Neuro-ophthalmologic changes can occur at any time and be caused by many conditions, including the following:
- Hormonal/pituitary imbalances
- Weakening of nerves controlling the eye muscles
- Infection, disease, or pressure on the optic nerve
- Tumors
- Stroke
- Diseases such as multiple sclerosis
